WSA Horizontal Sand & Slurry Pump for Gold Mining

WSA horizontal sand pumps are used for mining slurry transfer, river dredging, construction drainage, tailings handling and abrasive sand movement. This product is usually selected for alluvial gold mining, river sand pumping and abrasive slurry transfer. Before quoting, Machen Machinery checks river depth, sand layer, discharge distance, power source and whether the customer needs hose, diesel engine and wear parts together.

Product Description

Built for Abrasive Slurry. The pump is selected for sites that handle fine sand, tailings, ash, coal slurry, gravel and other solid-liquid mixtures. It is normally matched with hose, pulley transmission, diesel or motor power and spare wet-end parts before shipment.

Typical Applications. Mining drainage, gold mining sand pumping, river dredging, tailings transfer, construction dewatering, ash handling and coal slurry transfer.

For an accurate quote, send the product name, quantity, river depth or working site, material condition, discharge distance, power source and destination country. Photos or short videos of the site are useful when the buyer is not sure which model to choose.

Horizontal Slurry Pump Selection for Mining

The WSA is selected as a horizontal sand and slurry pump when the site needs to move abrasive solids through a planned suction and discharge line. A useful quotation needs more than pipe diameter. Flow, total head, particle size, solids concentration, suction conditions and power source determine whether the pump can work near a stable operating point.

For alluvial gold mining, Machen Machinery can review the pump together with the diesel engine, pulley ratio, mining hose and wet-end spare parts. Matching the package as one system reduces the risk of low output, blocked suction, excessive pump speed or an overloaded engine.

Site informationWhy it affects selection
Required flow and vertical liftDefines the basic hydraulic duty and required head.
Horizontal discharge distanceLong hose or pipe runs add friction loss and may require a different size.
Sand, gravel and maximum particle sizeAffects passage size, wear rate and blockage risk.
Approximate solids concentrationChanges slurry density, power demand and expected wear.
Suction depth and inlet arrangementDetermines priming, suction losses and cavitation risk.
Diesel engine or electric motorControls speed matching, transmission and site installation.

Gold Mining and Dredging Applications

A horizontal slurry pump can support river sand pumping, alluvial gold washing, tailings transfer, construction dewatering and abrasive mineral handling. For coarse solids, the complete inlet arrangement and operating speed must be reviewed. For long-distance transfer, discharge diameter and hose layout should be checked before selecting engine power.

Compare the LSA vertical sand pump when the pump must work inside a pit or sump. For an African field package, see the gold mining sand pump for Africa and alluvial gold mining equipment package.

WSA Sand Slurry Pump Package

A practical package may include the pump, base, pulley and belt transmission, selected diesel engine, suction and discharge hose, couplings and a starter set of slurry pump parts. Remote sites should plan wear parts before shipment rather than waiting for the first shutdown.

Send site photos, river or pit depth, sand layer, discharge distance, required output and destination country. Machen Machinery will use these inputs to prepare a model and package recommendation instead of selecting from diameter alone.

Horizontal Sand and Slurry Pump FAQ

Can the WSA pump handle both sand and slurry?

It is intended for abrasive sand-slurry duties, but the model must be matched to particle size, solids concentration, flow and head. Large gravel or unusual material should be confirmed before quotation.

How is a diesel engine matched to the pump?

The pump duty and target speed are calculated first. Engine power, rated speed, pulley ratio, belt arrangement and site altitude are then reviewed together.

What spare parts should ship with the pump?

The initial list commonly focuses on the impeller, casing or wear-section components, sealing items and drive parts. Quantity depends on operating hours, abrasiveness and freight lead time.

The WSA page targets horizontal sand and slurry pump selection. For Machen’s complete manufacturer scope, vertical-pump comparison, production control and package supply, use the slurry pump manufacturer center.

For river dredging, alluvial mining and complete diesel-driven configurations, continue to Machen’s sand dredge pump package center.

WSA Pump Range and Factory Build Options

Machen’s published WSA range covers 4 to 16 inch sand and slurry pump systems. The range is prepared for abrasive mining and sand-handling duties, with pump, pulley drive, diesel or electric power, hose and wet-end spares matched as one order when required.

Performance is confirmed from the requested flow, total dynamic head and slurry condition. We do not treat a 6 inch or 8 inch outlet as a complete selection because two sites with the same hose diameter can have very different lift, distance, solids and power demand.

What We Can Confirm Before Quotation

Send the expected output, vertical lift, horizontal distance, hose diameter, suction arrangement, largest particle, approximate solids concentration and daily working hours. Machen uses these details to review pump size, target speed, pulley ratio, power and the initial spare-parts list.

If the project does not yet have a calculated flow, send the mining or washing process, pit dimensions and site photos. We can discuss a practical starting configuration, but the quotation will identify which operating data still requires customer confirmation.

Wear Parts and Repeat Orders

For WSA replacement orders, keep the nameplate, outlet size and photos of the removed component. Pump casing and impeller matching also uses bolt positions, principal dimensions, internal profile and the working slurry. The published white cast iron option and HRC55-65 hardness apply to Machen’s listed replacement casing and impeller products; the final material description is confirmed on the quotation.

Remote African sites should order critical wear parts with the first pump package, then adjust stock from real operating hours and removed-part measurements. This is more reliable than using one standard spare quantity for every mine.
